In Mexico, digital banking users are preparing for an important change: the implementation of the Transfer Limit (MTU). This measure aims to strengthen security in electronic operations and provide greater control over money movements, especially in high-value transfers.

What does it consist of?
The MTU is a new rule that sets a cap on the amount of money a user can transfer instantly online or through mobile applications. This limit can be configured by the user, but each bank will set a predefined maximum amount that cannot be exceeded.

When does it start?
The implementation of this scheme will begin gradually by the end of 2025, as established by the Bank of Mexico. Financial institutions are already working on the technological adaptations so that clients can adjust their preferences from their digital platforms.

Main goals
1- Strengthen user security against electronic fraud.
2- Provide customers with more control over real-time money transfers.
3- Reduce risks associated with unauthorized or extraordinary transfers.

What should users do?
a) Check with their bank the initial limit that will be assigned automatically.
b) Log into their online or mobile banking and adjust the transfer cap according to their needs.
c) Keep their security data up to date, such as passwords and authentication methods.

How to configure the MTU?
Each bank will have its own procedure, but in general the steps will be:
1- Log into the official app or website.
2- Find the security or transfer section.
3- Set the maximum amount the customer wants to authorize.
4- Confirm the configuration with a dynamic key or token.

Additional information
The MTU does not replace traditional security measures such as two-factor authentication systems. Rather, it adds an extra layer of protection. Experts point out that this model has already been tested in other countries with positive results, strengthening trust in digital banking.

For more details, users can consult their banks directly or review the provisions published on the official website of the National Banking and Securities Commission.
