Mexiquillo has a large network of walking trails. Trails range in difficulty from easy trails for beginners to challenging trails for experienced hikers. Some of the most popular trails include the trail leading to the Mexiquillo waterfall, the trail leading to the lagoon viewpoint, and the trail leading to the lava labyrinth.

 

Mexiquillo is synonymous with waterfalls, streams, rocks and mountains, this in the Pueblo Nuevo area, Durango Mexico. In these mountains is the "Mexiquillo" natural park, very close to a small town called "La Ciudad". Just over 120 km from Mazatlán and 100 km from Durango on the Mazatlán-Durango highway. This park is one of the most visited for its beauty and unparalleled landscapes to enjoy. Upon arrival, the cabins and the streams that cross the place give a spectacle like no other. The place is full of activities to do. You can rent a cabin if you have a few days of vacation. You can also enjoy horseback riding, bicycle or motorcycle riding, or simply enjoy the atmosphere on a good walk. For lovers of extreme sports, you can practice rappelling or zip lining, which by the way is highly requested by visitors to the area.

Naturally fun

This park has more attractions such as the volcanic rock garden that gives a majestic landscape and takes you back to the stone age. These rocks are carved in a whimsical way by the water currents that formed part of the terrain millions of years ago. There are also natural lakes of unparalleled beauty, ideal for fishing or simply for a walk. In one of the main streams, there is a fabulous waterfall more than 20 meters high.

Natural beauty

Throughout the park area you can also enjoy the local cuisine. It regularly consists of the typical "gorditas", which are corn or flour tortillas filled with some stew such as pork rinds, picadillo, nopal, beans, among many others. The craft stalls with typical Durango products such as mezcals, sweets, wooden houses and souvenirs with some "scorpion" or stuffed scorpion. Durango is famous for being a logging area that is part of the habitat of this arachnid, the scorpion.
